Aaron Gidney
Guitars & Chapman Stick
Starting at an early age, Aaron was classically trained on Piano and Trumpet, touring Europe with orchestras and concert bands. He joined the York Area Schools Symphony Orchestra and York Area Schools Concert Band at 14, while teaching himself bass guitar after hearing Nick Beggs play with Iona.
After several years of playing in pubs with covers bands, Aaron decided to learn guitar after hearing Black Star by Yngwie Malmsteen on his mother's Open University Music Course CD. This, coupled with a love of Genesis, Iron Maiden and early Manic Street Preachers, encouraged Aaron to focus on learning guitar.
In 2008, he finally decided to start his writing and recording his own music under the banner of Shadow of Acolyte. Initially a studio project as a creative outlet, Shadow of Acolyte soon evolved into a live band when André Saint joined and began to share the vision to create original, melodic rock.
As the original creative vision behind the band's music, Aaron and André formed a songwriting partnership that drove the band to a Number 1 E.P on Amazon's Digital Hard Rock & Metal Bestseller's Chart in January 2018 with several positive reviews in high street magazines and internet radio airplay across the world.
